A story by Sheri Gauthier
August 2017
My name is Sheri Gauthier and I am from a beautiful little island off the eastern coast of Canada called Prince Edward Island, population 148,000. I am a Pearl Director with this fabulous company and became a Tocara consultant on December 14, 2016, just 8 short months ago.
I am a busy mom and wife who works full-time in Human Resources and also studies as a part-time student at the University of Prince Edward Island – in my fourth year of business. I have 2 amazingly beautiful children, Logan and Seth. Logan is my 15 year old daughter who loves Tocara just as much as I do. She is forever “borrowing” my bling and Seth, my handsome little athlete who is 11 years old. My husband Troy, who has been the love of my life since I was 15 years old! He is my biggest Tocara supporter and sometimes doubles as my assistant. This journey would not be possible without his tremendous support. While I’m out partying with Tocara, he takes care of the children and their busy schedules.
My Tocara journey began while I was on a girls’ trip in Ottawa, Ontario in November 2016. I stumbled upon a Tocara ad on social media and immediately fell in love with what I saw. I continued to research Tocara while in Ottawa and decided to make contact via email. Boy am I ever glad I sent that message! After returning back home from vacation to PEI just a few days later, I received a call from a lovely lady by the name of Tammy Dixon. In the beginning, our chats were short and sweet because I was either in the gym at a basketball game or in class at university – our timing wasn’t always right but we continued to try at best. After several attempts, we finally connected and had some pretty great conversations about Tocara. I often say that the stars aligned the day I met Tammy. Little did I know that those calls would be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. I am blessed to have been put in contact with such a supportive, motivating, and kind person. She was very patient and understanding of my busy world and that’s what I needed. I wasn’t searching for this opportunity but I was thrilled that it found me.
I had been a consultant with another jewelry company for 8 years that had just closed its doors 5 months earlier. This connection was simply meant to be. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and Tammy and Tocara came into my life at the most perfect time. I was ready to get back into direct sales and dedicate the time and energy to grow this amazing brand on PEI. There were so many things I loved about Tocara: the jewelry, the quality, and the lifetime guarantee, the Fast Start Program, the compensation plan, the hostess benefits, and the fact that Tocara is a Canadian company was simply incredible and let’s not forget the fact that we have the famous patented DiAmi stone created by our very own jewelry guy, Mr. Randall Markus. I was totally in awe and couldn’t wait to get the party started! When I planned my trip to Ottawa, little did I know that I was going to be a part of such an amazing life-changing company.
My starter kit arrived the day after I became a consultant and I immediately began working on my contact list. I reached out to my past customers, hostesses, neighbors, friends and family. I scheduled a “Meet Tocara” event at my home just a few days later to share the opportunity with my previous business partners. With just my starter kit and Tammy joining us via Facetime to show more of the beautiful bling we were off to a great start.
During my Fast Start period, five amazing ladies joined me in business, including my long-time friend Mary McIver. Our team of 10 continues to grow on little ole PEI.
The recognition with Tocara is endless, I earned the beautiful Fast Start Recognition Pin for achieving $1,200 in personal sales and welcoming one new consultant during my first 30 days. I continued to achieve the Fast Start Excellence Award in January which is a beautiful award I must say. I was presented this award live on Facebook by Megan Ranco, Tocara’s Vice-President of Sales, Denise Ouellette, my Senior Vice-President, and Tammy while they were in Ottawa at a dream day event, what a moment that was. Let’s not forget the beautiful bling! During my Fast Start I earned over $4,100 in free Jewelry just for working my Tocara business. It is possible and so achievable! I scheduled and held my launch show just 4 days after beginning my business (on December 18th) with sales over $1,700, which meant more free jewelry. I achieved Senior Consultant (January 14) after just 31 days in business then Silver Director on February 22.
Remember my start date of December 14th. Well, in my first full month of business, my January sales were $10,334! Crazy right? I would have never thought that starting a new business just 11 days before Christmas would have been a good idea let alone had sales of over $10,000.
So many great things have happened to me since joining Tocara. This fabulous company names each special piece of jewelry after its consultants and customers. A moment I will never forget was when the fabulous Denise Ouellette announced on one of our director calls that the cover piece of the new April Spring insert was named the Sheri. I immediately began screaming with excitement as this beautiful piece was my namesake piece, what an honor! I am forever grateful to have this piece of jewelry named after me.
Another highlight for me was joining over 100 leaders in Mont Tremblant for a director’s retreat. This trip was the very first trip I earned with Tocara and will always hold a special place in my heart. I met so many incredible people that weekend from both Canada and the United States who I’ve built friendships with that will last a lifetime. To be given the opportunity to learn and grow alongside other directors in this company was such a gift. I will never forget the energy in the room the last night of that trip. I left Tremblant energized and focused on achieving the rank of Pearl Director. I wanted it so badly. I mapped out a plan to achieve Pearl Director and I was so excited to achieve that title on May 30. This is just an example of creating what you imagine. When you work hard at your business, these can be the results.
Even working full-time, being a busy mom, a wife and a student, I was able to achieve all of these things in such a short amount of time by sharing the sparkle of Tocara with everyone. By being consistent and staying motivated you too can achieve all of these fabulous rewards. The icing on the cake was achieving my number one goal since starting my Tocara business, the focal point of my vision board, the incentive trip to Punta Cana!
I encourage you to create goals with your business. Whether they be small or large goals, write them down and revisit them often. Ensure they are realistic goals, that’s what I did and I loved checking them off each time I achieved them. Share this amazing opportunity with everyone you come into contact with, you never know who may need a dose of Tocara in their lives. I certainly can’t imagine my life without Tocara and everything that comes with it. With Tocara, your business can be big-time, small-time or part-time. I work my business part-time. When you are given an opportunity to live your life on your own terms and empower people to be great, you go for it!
My days are full and life is busy but Tocara is by far my fun job! I love everything about this company and am blessed to have such a great team of incredible women who are supportive and rock Tocara!
With hard work, determination and some sparkle, you too can have it all! The best is yet to come!
